Emmet County Announces Runway Closures at Pellston Regional Airport
Beginning on September 18, 2017, through the anticipated completion date of October 27, 2017, Emmet County’s Pellston Regional Airport will be rehabilitating its primary runway. The main runway, 14/32, will close on September 18 when all traffic will shift over to the secondary runway, 5/23. Both runways will be temporarily closed from October 6 through October 10, 2017, when Pellston Regional Airport will be closed to all aircraft activity. After October 10, the secondary runway will reopen. The estimated schedule is subject to change due to weather delays or unforeseen circumstances.
Funding for the runway rehabilitation will be as follows; 95% will come from federal funds, 2.5% from state funds and 2.5% will come from county funds. Funds spent by Emmet County will be reimbursed through Passenger Facility Charges.
Pellston Regional Airport officials and SkyWest airlines are working closely to minimize the impact of this upgrade on commercial flights. “Ultimately, this is the best time to make the improvements. Our busy summer season has just concluded, and we plan to be ready for the upcoming holiday traffic. Our goal is to provide convenient, hassle-free travel to and from Emmet County and maintenance of our runways is of utmost importance.”
Please note that the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) recommends that you arrive at the airport at least 1.5 hours before your scheduled departure.
